Hugues and Marie

BONUS Trip Notes!
October 10th, 2002

Got up a bit late and drove 8 hours through New Brunswick and Quebec. The leaves had turned considerably since we arrived an eon ago. It was an anticlimactic day. No riding pressure, no diet, no Dr. Pepper, Skippy was idle. I did have a Mars Bar though …

Last P.E.I. Culture: Skunks smell exactly the same here, but the wind blows the smell away faster. The horses and cows seem huge. Very large dogs and crows abound. Shrooms plentiful. Politicians in trouble.

Had a wonderful dinner in with Hugues Belanger and Marie Marthe at Le Biftheque. They were all dressed up in their work garb, and we were looking like slightly spruced up Tour bums. It felt really good to sit and literally discuss "la joie de vivre" in a crowded Montreal restaurant. We certainly covered a wide range of subjects; Hugues and Marie Marthe met at a choir rehearsal. Marie was auditioning that night as a soprano. [Hugues sings tenor] Hugues thought to himself, "she is my type!" He went over to tell her that he liked her singing, and in doing so he put his hand on her shoulder. He says that after touching her shoulder he melted. Apparently Marie Marthe liked it too; isn't that cool? Just a sample, cheers!

I wonder what the weather will be like at home on Thanksgiving? Maybe I can go out for a nice, relaxing bike ride - motorbike, that is! :)
