Trip Notes
Friday, October 4th, 2002

Today finds our hero battling great adversity, not the least of which is the absence of any kind of Internet connection ... therefore, Dave's notes for today are written by Kris Light, as told over the phone by Dave Mayle.

Montague in the morning barely made it to 2 degrees Celsius. Dave donned the plastic windbreaker and rode 90km before his sweat-soaked attire got the better of him. A quick pit stop and change of dry clothes later, he was back on the road. The wind died down enough to saddle up again in the afternoon, and the temperature climbed to a balmy 11 degrees. Whew!

If You Look to Your Left...
The Prince Edward Island landscape is littered with more than just Tim Horton's cups and mushroom plants....today, Dave was treated to fields and fields of electric windmills. He'll be passing many more of them so there'll be a picture soon...

The winds have done everything but cooperate on the Ride. Yesterday, Dave was nearly blown over three times! Honestly...I think it's about time the poor guy got a bit of a break...

Behold...the Break

Tomorrow, Environment Canada is calling for a 60-80 km tailwind. You bet Dave will be taking advantage of that! Despite all the environmental hardships today, he still managed to travel 125km. Tomorrow, he may bike past his predicted checkpoint at Mount Stewart.

That being said, Dave is a real trooper when it comes to weather, but he's insisted he won't bike in the rain anymore! In his own words..."I'm not Lance Armstrong you know, I'm too old for this!"

See you tomorrow, Dave!
