Notes:
THE END!
Wednesday, October 9th, 2002
It
was a short sweet ride today. Nailed most of the 150
km. yesterday. I had an idea I was going to do a sprint to the finish
and impress everyone with a blazing 30+ time. However, the ride
was really too short to get warmed up, and the legs didnt
really want to do it.

| Im
glad I didnt follow my original strategy of attack, and going
way over mileage every day. If I had, I dont think I would have
finished the ride. Instead, I followed my own steadfast rule of staying
one gear below pain threshold, and living injury-free to ride tomorrow

P.E.I.
DROPS BIG COIN ON DAVES RIDE!!
As
I said earlier, after returning from China I had to force myself
to ride. 10 km. into my final training run, I really didnt
feel like riding at all. Its mind over matter I thought -
you must ride! I convinced myself this run was part of the ride,
and it had to be completed. As soon as I decided that, I spotted
a dime on the road. In effect, that was the first official found
money of this ride.

Since
then I found an additional 11¢ [a dime and a penny] and
Cheryl also found a dime and a penny. Yeah, I ride the whole
way looking for money on the ground and she just steps out of the
car and finds a dime! Anyway, as I set out from the hotel this morning,
I had my mind on my money my money on my mind. [Ref. Snoop Dog]
Seriously, I was thinking writing a cultural bit about the islanders
being tight with their change, when presto I spotted a dime! I thought
that was such a fitting way to end the ride after finding a dime
to start, but then I saw a penny, then another penny. I stopped
at least six times in the next 2 km., and ended up finding the collection
in the attached photo. Amazing eh?
Oh
yeah! The Fishing Boat.
Here are the two finalists for the old fishing boat contest.
